HOBY CLeW students interact with local community leaders, participate in group activities and conduct community service projects. A typical CLeW is six to ten hours long, with 50-100 freshmen participants, and focuses on leadership as a discipline to be explored and learned. The Community Leadership Workshop (CLEW) is HOBY’s introductory one-day leadership program for high school freshmen. Volunteering for a HOBY CLeW was one way that I could utilize that passion, however, planning my own CLeW has taught me more about myself and new skills that I can even use in the workplace, all while giving back. However, after my first time volunteering at a HOBY Community Leadership Workshop (CLeW), I realized I had a passion for teaching students leadership skills. At first, I volunteered to understand HOBY a little bit more so that I was well informed when Members asked questions about ways to volunteer. Assess your snowboard situation and consult a professional before purchasing and attaching some new gear of your own.My journey with HOBY started as a volunteer after Phi Sigma Pi and HOBY entered into a philanthropic partnership at the 2015 National Convention. The most common mounting styles are the 2 by 4(two by four bolt holes), the 4 by 4(same as the 2 by 2, but with 4 bolt holes), the 3D, and the Channel Style (commonly seen with Burton) mounting patterns. Most companies manufacture universal disks to fit every type of snowboard. There are a variety of different mounting options available. How do you determine if your snowboard bindings will fit your snowboard? The heel should be comfortable and the boots should allow wiggle room. Straps should fit comfortably, not too tight or loose, and boots should not hang off of the bindings. When testing out new snowboard bindings, place your boot in to test the size. It is very important to be sure that your snowboard bind will properly fit your boots. Snowboard bindings can come in small, medium, and large sizes and come in a variety of custom colors. How do you determine if your bindings will fit your boot? Mount the rear binding in the same fashion that you mounted the front binding, but be sure to set the angle at -6°, pointed backwards.Tighten all screws and ensure the binding is in the proper position.Position the bind so that there will be an equal amount of snowboard over the front of the toe and behind the boot heel. Place both the binding and disk over the center screw holes at the front of the snowboard.Pick the front bind position this will be the left binding if you ride in a regular stance or the right bind if you ride goofy.What are some common brands that manufacture snowboard bindings? The hinged back on rear-entry bindings allows the rider to simply step into the board for maximum ease. The second style of bindings are called rear-entry bindings, or speed-entry bindings, and are designed to focus on comfort.
